Icky

Icky Rosborough

I’m very lucky to have a career that has allowed me to live all over the country, but I couldn’t be happier to return to Eugene to take over as Program Director and Afternoon Host at Star 102.3.

My days started as an awkward little weirdo in Portland where I discovered my intense love for music.  Didn’t matter what it was, if it had a great beat and a catchy tune I wanted to hear it on full blast.  I spent hours making playlists for myself and my friends… and now I am lucky enough to do that same thing professionally for the entire Eugene Metro!

When I’m graced with free time I like to capitalize on it by getting out and creating new tales to share.  I enjoy staying fit so I can fully utilize the foodie (and “mild” alcoholic) that lives inside of me.  I love movies and can’t wait to discuss a good flick.  Watching people display their talents live fascinates me… sports, music, and comedy are my favorites.

Below you’ll find a series of random questions, but I will warn you… I may have shared too much, so this is a fair TMI ALERT.

Favorite Color

Royal Blue.  I also like purple more than I probably should.

Favorite Board Game

There are so many good ones so I’ll try to narrow it down to three.  First is clearly Risk, because duh.  Second would be mouse trap.  Not because it’s a great game, but because I like having that bar room argument about how difficult the setup is.  People get angrier than they should when you defend that “the immense setup time is worth the wait.”  Finally, Monopoly!  I’ve played that game so much I can list every spot in order from Go to Boardwalk.  It may take a long time to play… if you suck at it 😉

Sports Teams

Some of my answers may change through the years, this one will not.  NFL – San Francisco 49ers.  NBA – Portland Trailblazers.  MLB – San Francisco Giants.  College – University of Oregon.

Drink

I love Coca-Cola and Dr. Pepper but try my best to avoid soda, during the day I drink a ton of water.  I usually have a cup of coffee in the mornings, but if it isn’t loaded with creamer or something I probably won’t drink coffee that day.  When it comes to adult beverages of the alcoholic nature, It’s safe to say I’m a fan.  The world of Scotch/Whisky is my preference but I’m also a beer drinker.  Tequila is a favorite, but must be consumed in extreme moderation or Adventure Time Icky comes out.

TV Shows

I don’t really have a ton of shows I watch religiously.  If I’m watching television it’s either sports, some form of news, or cheesy sitcoms.  Shows I can watch reruns and not care… Simpsons, Friends, Cheers, Modern Family, Seinfeld, How I met Your Mother, and South Park.  Of the new shows I really like Superstore, Undateable Live, Fresh Off The Boat, The Goldbergs, and The Bachelor.  Shows I don’t watch… The Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, or Downton Abbey.  What can I say, I prefer movies.

Movies

I absolutely love watching, analyzing, and discussing movies.  Most movies… I’ll usually pass on the horror movies, I don’t find them entertaining.  I’m going to be that stereotypical ass clown that picks Star Wars as his favorite movie.  I still remember the first time I saw Star Wars… I was a naive little six year old that was unprepared for the beautiful cinematic display that VHS tape unleashed.  In a chaotic, sugar fueled party filled with cap guns and screaming boys I sat silently in front of a 20′ tube television soaking in every frame of ‘A New Hope’ like some incredibly powerful nerd drug.  That’s where it all began.

Actors

Ray Liota, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks, Christopher Walken, Bill Murray, Matt Damon, Robert DeNiro, Christian Bale, and Harrison Ford.

Actress

Susan Sarandon, Sally Field, Diane Keaton, Emma Stone, Sandra Bullock, Emma Watson, Jennifer Lawrence, Sigourney Weaver, and Kaley Cuoco has a special place in my heart.  She should marry me so I can finally pronounce her last name.

Snack

Chips.  I love chips to the point I don’t buy them at the store anymore.  My brains thinks a large bag of chips, as in family size, is a suitable snack.  Once I open a bag I have zero control.  I function in a constant state mild hunger, so if there is food around I’ll probably try some.  If nobody is around I’ll try way more than necessary.

App

First of all I should specify that I’m an Android user.  I’m not one of those angry Android users that hates iPhone people, I just think they make terrible decisions.  I don’t have many fancy apps.  When it comes to time killers I really like Boom Beach, Trivial Pursuit, Zillow, and Sudoku.  If you’re looking for a great running app, I use Strava.

Candy

Nestle’s Crunch, Sour Patch Kids, Kit Kat.  I’m one of the few people that doesn’t like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.  When I first typed this, I spelled “Reese’s” with a ‘c’, that’s how rarely I look at them.  And how terrible of a speller I am.  IBM, thank you for spell check.

Hometown

Born in Portland and raised in the beautiful* suburb of Gresham.  Considering I wrote this questionnaire I would write questions I had compelling answers to… and yet, I got nothing.  My high school mascot was the Gophers!

Musicians

I could easily rant in this topic as well… I’ve got a lot of love for many different genres of music.  Dave Grohl is the first that comes to mind.  Not only because he’s amazing at everything he touches, or because he’s my hero, but because of my maybe possibly slightly creepy man crush on him.  Musicians I have a healthy love for… kinda… Billie Joe Armstrong, Katy Perry, Frank Sinatra, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Eddie Vedder, Billy Joel, Bruno Bars, and Chris Cornell.

Charities Close To Your Heart

The Alzheimer’s Association, Special Olympics, Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.
